Being part of St. John's means being with each other through significant periods in each other's lives. Whether they are occasions of joy and growth, or periods of grief and loss, the important thing is that we love and support each other as we move towards a deeper understanding of God's love for us and what He has done for us through Jesus Christ.

Loss is an inevitable part of life, but we should never have to go through loss alone. Grief Share is a seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of a loved one. Addictions and relational healing
St. John's uses the introductory CrossCurrent version of the Living Waters Canada program, designed to help men and women deal with relational and sexual problems. It is available to anyone who is open to the healing ministry of the Holy Spirit, desires meaningful relationships with men and women, and is willing to be honest with others about the broken areas of their life. Prayer Support
If you experience a crisis, you can request prayer support from the prayer chain. There are also prayer teams during the communion services who are available to pray with you for your concerns and petitions. Every second and fourth Monday of each month, “Keeping Company with God” is an excellent Taize-style service that will help you learn to be still in the Lord. Read more
Casserole Ministry
For people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives, the care givers of the casserole ministry will prepare a meal as well as take on the responsibility of praying for that family or individual. If you know of someone who is experiencing difficulties, perhaps recently home from hospital or with a loved one in hospital, please contact Carolyn Thomas or Suzie Thomas by leaving a message at the church office: 604.731.4966.
Hospital Care
On a weekly basis, a list of parishioners in hospital care is maintained. These people will receive phone calls from our pastoral care staff. In addition, their names will be mentioned during morning prayer time. Please contact Rita Baldwin at 604.738.7002.
Pastoral Visitations
A group of caring people have been trained to pay visits to the elderly, sick and shut-in members of our church family. In addition, Ken and Julie Moser, our youth ministers, have been encouraging young people at St. John’s to deliver flowers and sing carols to bed-ridden seniors during Christmas. We are amazed at the number of cards and 'thank you' notes we have received. Contact Edie Rittinger edie@stjohnsshaughnessy.org and at 604.731.4966 ext 24 for more information.
