Many Christians often don’t find prayer ‘easy’. We have a general sense that we should pray, and pray more. We are embarrassed, even ashamed of how we pray. The idea of praying aloud in a group fills us with all kinds of self-focused worries. However, God loves every one of our prayers and every movement in our hearts to pray: he put the desire there in the first place. And we can help each other.
As Anglicans we kneel on a great treasury of prayers: particularly the ‘collects.’ They are simple, forming, shaping prayers which place our needs before God in a way that uniquely honours him. Dr Bruce Hindmarsh will lead us in a practical workshop in the collects, helping us to draw near to God our Heavenly Father in prayer. We encourage each person in the church to attend this session from 7:30 to 9:00 pm on Monday, Oct 2 in the Church Fellowship Hall.
