Joint statement from St. John's Shaughnessy Trustees and the Diocese of New Westminster
Trustees and representatives from the Parish of St John's (Shaughnessy) met today (June 20, 2011) with Diocesan Executive Archdeacon Ron Harrison and other Diocesan representatives to discuss transition following the Supreme Court of Canada Decision on June 16, 2011. The meeting was very constructive and candid and confirmed the intention of the Diocese to restore the Anglican ministry of the Anglican Church of Canada at St. John's Shaughnessy in the fall of 2011. This will provide time for the orderly transition of administration and governance and for appointment of clergy. During the transition ministry and services will continue to be administered by St John's Vancouver clergy and staff. While there are still some legal matters to resolve all parties present expressed the wish to avoid further litigation and find a mutually acceptable way forward which will glorify God and care for his people.
