Liveword Vancouver Women's Conference > Liveword Conference 2012

“Our Father in heaven”.  This is how Jesus begins what we call the Lord’s Prayer, a prayer  which Christians have called out to God over many centuries and across many cultures.   What is it about the Lord’s Prayer that answers the needs of all human hearts? What need does it answer in you?

Could there be a better way to spend a day than seeking to understand the depths of this childlike yet profound prayer?!  On Feb. 18, 2012 at Liveword, we’ll open minds and hearts to the prayer that Jesus taught us to say.  Come prepared to listen, to learn, and to do some digging into Scripture as we widen our gaze to study this prayer, not out of context as is often done, but within its rich Bible setting. Best of all, come find out what the Lord’s Prayer teaches us about the Father we call on and about the one who taught us to pray “Our Father”.

About Liveword

Liveword Vancouver Women’s Conference is organized by a group of interdenominational Bible believing women. We aim to reach women of the Lower Mainland and beyond with biblical expository teaching, for the purpose of growing them to maturity in Christ. This vision arises from the conviction that the Bible, God’s living and authoritative word, transforms lives: indeed that ‘All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness’ (2 Timothy 3:16). In turn we are convinced of the benefit of expository teaching. An expository message relates expressly to the Scripture text in context and draws implications directly from it. By this method, and in the power of the Holy Spirit, the Word of God is handled carefully to reflect its purpose and authority.

Our hope is that women who come to the conference will be challenged to read the Bible in a way that encourages deep engagement with God's Word. At the conference, you will have an opportunity to meet with, and be encouraged by other Christian women who take God’s word seriously and seek to live in a way that honours Him.

Speakers:

Our speakers are three women who lead ordinary lives, yet share the desire to teach the Word of God to other women. This year, our speakers are Carolyn Hindmarsh, Polly Long, and Irena Tippett

Carolyn Hindmarsh
Carolyn has done an undergraduate and graduate degree in theology, and she presently teaches Greek at Regent College, where her husband Bruce is a professor.  She is the mother of three children who range in age from sixteen to twenty-one, and she has been a member of St. John's for ten years.

Polly Long
Polly was born and raised in East Tennessee. Since 2002, Polly has been
teaching Homiletics, Greek and Academic writing at Regent College as a sessional lecturer, where her husband, Phil, is professor of Old Testament. Over the years, Polly has been deeply involved in training lay people to read their Bibles well.

Irena Tippett
Becoming a Christian in France while pursuing a degree in Fine Arts, Irena loves to use her training to speak and write on art and culture in the context of her faith.  In recent years her greatest adventure and joy has been to teach and study God’s Word with other women.
