Easter Greetings from the Moderator of the Anglican Network in Canada, the Right Reverend Donald F Harvey

My dear Friends in the Risen Christ,

In my role as your new Bishop, I want to share some words of Easter Joy both to celebrate the new relationship that now exists between you and me, and, even more, to celebrate the wonderful relationship we now experience together as we sing “Welcome Happy Morning” and realize yet again that the tomb indeed is empty and the Risen Jesus is standing among us in all of his Glory.

I do not take my new relationship with you lightly. It is my prayer, as I hope it is yours, that we will move the churches of the Anglican Network in Canada into a joy-filled future and that our actions and ministry together will be worthy of Him who paid such a price for our salvation – and for that of the whole world.

Our own struggle in these past weeks has not been easy but then neither was the Way of the Cross. And, just as the Via Dolorossa and Calvary’s Hill, and all the suffering that occurred there, ultimately led to the joy of the empty tomb, so we pray that these our own trials will be but a small price to pay for the Easter Joy that we continue to share.

It is my intention to try to be present with as many of our parish families as possible during the remainder of 2008, so that together we may share our joy as followers of our resurrected Christ – and that “our joy may be full”. I also look forward to worshiping our risen Lord with many of you at our national conference of celebration and commissioning, Compelled by Christ’s Love, in the Vancouver area, April 25-26.

Bishop Malcolm and Marylou join with Trudy and me in sending our love and greetings this Eastertide.

Your friend and bishop,
Donald Harvey

God & Film. "The task I’m trying to achieve is above all to make you see." – D.W. Griffith, pioneering American director
Movies have become one of our more popular art forms, and these evenings are designed to challenge us beyond merely watching them into something of what Griffith was after. We plan to enjoy each work for its unique merits as we engage them for new recognitions of the nature of God, our world, and ourselves. The evenings will involve a public screening with refreshments, a brief commentary on the filmmaker’s themes, and opportunities for questions and discussion. Join us! All movies are shown at 7:30 pm. Pick up blue invitations at the door to use to invite your friends.
