Help Needed
The 3rd annual VYLC (Vancouver Youth Leadership Conference) is being held from August 25-28. We have had some requests, by those traveling large distances, for billets during the conference. VYLC (Vancouver Youth Leadership Conference)
25-28 August. This conference is in its third year and is a great opportunity for youth leaders and potential youth leaders to be trained by experienced teachers including David Short, Ken Moser and Richard James. The aims of the conference are to equip leaders in: improving leadership skills, learning Biblical strategies, gaining confi dence in teaching the Bible, and building strong Christian disciples! It is an exciting week to be a part of so please encourage anyone you know who would benefi t from this conference to attend. Cost $95 includes lunch daily. Kickstart
August 29-30. For the fourth year Kickstart youth conference is ready to help those from grades 7-12 and university to Kickstart the year with great bible teaching Cost $30. Register today by emailing Julie Moser or visit the Kickstart page of this website.
St. John's Youth Summer Camp
The annual St John’s summer begins today in Pt. Roberts. Please remember to pray for our young people this week.
Summer Nursery
The nursery and toddler’s room programs will be informal and parent run for the duration of the summer. Parents will be responsible for the supervision and care of their children from week to week, along with some assistance from the youth.
August 25 – Oct 6. This is a seminar/support group for people who are either going through divorce, or who are already divorced. This year we will be offering Divorce Care on a twice-weekly basis for 7½ weeks – Monday and Thursday evenings each week. Cost of the course materials is $20.00, and pre-registration is strongly advised. Welcome to St. John’s on this August Sunday – whether you are on holiday and visiting us, new and wondering whether you might make St. John’s your church home, or a regular part of the family, we’re glad you’ve joined us today. There are blue “Welcome” cards in each pew – please fi ll one out if you’re new or visiting.
We also warmly welcome Richard and Judy James. Richard was our assistant minister in charge of the Evening service and evangelism from 1994 to 1997. Since their return to Australia 11 years ago, he has been rector of St. David’s, Forestville, a suburb of Sydney, ably supported in this ministry by Judy. And what of their children? Sarah is now 21 and Matthew and Peter are 19. All three are at university and are thriving.
There is coffee and tea being served in the Trendell Lounge. We encourage you to stay and visit.

The Youth Summer Camp starts today at Pt. Roberts and runs for the week. Please pray that the young people will grow to love Jesus and one another more and that God will keep them safe.
Spencer Bentley and Chris Ley are giving the Bible talks at the youth camp. Please pray that God will bless them as they teach his word and the kids and leaders as they hear it.
The Vancouver Youth Leaders Conference runs from August 25 to 28. Pray for Ken and Julie Moser as they prepare for this conference and for David Short and Richard James as they prepare to speak.
Kickstart Youth Conference is scheduled for August 29 and 30. Please pray that this will greatly encourage our young people to follow Christ as they begin the new academic year.
