Parish Luncheon Celebration…Come one, come all!

On Sunday, April 5, following the 11:00am service, we are planning a parish luncheon to celebrate the court decision that allows Mehran to remain in Canada permanently. We will have a delicious middle-eastern meal. It is a wonderful opportunity for our St. John’s family to rejoice in God’s goodness together.

The cost will be $5 for individuals and $10 per family. It would be helpful for us to know numbers, in terms of planning for the food. Please call the church office and let us know if you are planning to come.

If you would be willing to help with the day, with set up or clean up, please call Jan at ext. 28 or email jan

Keeping Company With God

“Keeping Company with God”- Monday March 23rd at 7:30PM in the sanctuary - Are you carrying heavy burdens? In this time of Lent, come spend time with the Man of Sorrow, who wants to take your burden and give you his care and comfort. But whatever your need- a quiet time with God at the end of your day, a place to receive prayer support for personal concerns or a desire to hold up this congregation in prayer- you will find this service is a place of “prayer care.” We meet every second and fourth Mondays. However we will not meet Easter Monday, April 13th

  Dear Friends,

Today we welcome Richard James back to St. John’s. Richard was the Evening Service minister from 1994 to 1997. He has been rector of a parish in Sydney, Australia for the past 12 years and has just left this position last week to take on a new ministry in Sydney. This timing is very fortunate for us because it means he can be with us at St. John’s as a full time minister for two months as I go away on my long term service leave. We are very thankful for Richard’s willingness to serve us in this way and we are taking full advantage right away as we have preaching at the 9 am, 11 am and 6:30 pm services today!

Please pray for David Short as he is in Toronto this week. He will first be taking part in ANiC (Anglican Network in Canada) board meetings. Then he will be speaking at the third annual preaching conference. He will be speaking on the Gospel of Luke as he trains a group of clergy from several different denominations. His hope is to see a fellowship of preachers begin to meet together in Toronto. Pray that God will strengthen and extend his kingdom through David’s ministry this week.

Finally we also welcome Brian McConaghy back to St. John’s as he speaks at the mission’s luncheon following the 11 am service. Brian founded the Ratanak Foundation in 1990. Their goal is to equip the people of Cambodia as they struggle to rebuild their country, and in so doing show them the love of Jesus Christ in a tangible way. One of Ratanak’s recent projects is a rehabilitation centre for between 40 to 60 little girls who have been rescued from various brothels throughout Cambodia. Brian is a wonderful speaker and you will hear of the extraordinary power of the Gospel of Jesus as he speaks today about what God is doing through Ratanak in Cambodia. You are all welcome to attend this mission’s lunch, cost is $5 per person or $10 per family.

God bless you,
Dan Gifford
