Legal Fund - Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC)

On May 25, 2009 we are seeking clarification from the courts regarding the ownership of our property. We continue to encourage people to donate to the ANiC legal fund in order cover the costs associated with these legal proceedings. Cheques should be made payable to The Anglican Network in Canada - St. John’s Project , and they should be marked as being designated for the legal fund. Donations may be placed in the offering plate, or delivered to the church office. For more information contact Krista Friebel at the church office, 604.731.4966 ext 19.


Mission’s Lunch - The Cantelon family - ANiC Missionaires in Jerusalem

On Sunday, Apr 19, after the 11:00 am service, please come and hear about the Cantelon family’s work in Jeruslam, where they will be working with Messianic Jews to establish churces in Israel. Everyone is welcome. Please contact the church office if you are plannning to attend. Cost for the lunch is $5 per person, $10 per family.


Service Opportunity

The Casserole Ministry is calling on all of those who would like to make some meals! We are looking for casseroles or soups portioned for 1 to 2 people, 3 to 4 people or family size. The Casserole Ministry tries to help out parishioners when they are dealing with an illness, death or stressful time in their lives. If you would like to help and could make a meal please call Carolyn at 604.263.4465 or Suzie at 604.271.4750 for details of where to drop it off. Two opportunities to attend Christianity Explored! A course for the curious, a place to ask questions

The Christianity Explored course runs for 7 weeks and is designed for those who are curious about Christianity
or are new to the Christian faith. Christianity Explored provides a warm, pressure-free environment to explore
questions of faith and life. It’s informal, fun and you can choose to be silent or say whatever you want. No question is too hostile or basic and no knowledge of faith is expected!

Wednesday nights ~ for all: This course will meet at 7:00 pm in the Church Hall for a wonderful home cooked meal,
short presentation and discussion. The course is free, but a small donation is asked to help cover the cost of the awesome food. The next course begins in May. If you have any questions or wish to register please email or phone Aaron at the church office, 604.731.4966 ext 22.

Thursday mornings ~ for women: This course will meet at 10:00 am in the Church Hall and run along-side Women@Ten, starting on April 23. If you have any questions or wish to register please email or phone Jan at the church office, 604.731.4966 ext 28.


Accommodation needed for the Martins

Rev. Sean Martin, his wife Natalie, and two young daughters (3 years old and 3 months old), are hoping to move to Vancouver on May 1, to minister in the Lower Mainland. Sean is an ordained Anglican minister (he was in our first Artizo graduating class) and has been doing university ministry as well as working with a church plant in Dublin for the past few years. Car Needed

Rev. Steve and Rachel James are coming to BC for 2 weeks (May 21 to June 4). Steve will be preaching here at the 9:00 am, 11:00 am, and 6:30 pm services on May 24. Then they will be heading over to Christ’s Church, Nanoose Bay (Guy Bellerby is the rector), where Steve will be the evangelist at a mission the parish is running. They need a car for the duration of their visit. If you have a spare care that they could use during those 2 weeks, please speak to Ruth Matheson, email Ruth or reach her at 604.731.4966 ext 12.


Alpha Marriage Course

We are planning to run a seven-week Alpha Marriage course, beginning Monday, Apr 20. This is a course designed to help strengthen marriages and is suitable for marriages of all ages and stages, whether you are newly weds or have been married for years. Divorce Care

Divorce Care begins on Monday, Apr 6 at 7:00 pm and will be held on a twice-weekly basis, concluding on May 21. If you or anyone you know is experiencing the pain of divorce or separation, this program is proven to be most helpful in moving towards recovery. Interns

Our Ekklesia interns, Andrew and Jessica will be leaving us this summer to study further at The University of Notre Dame (South Bend, IN). Please pray for them during this transition as they tie up life here in Vancouver, say goodbye to Ekklesia, sell their apartment, and prepare for life in America. If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in buying an apartment close to St. John’s please pass along the word that Andrew and Jessica are selling an apartment – this would be a great help to them! Women’s Retreat

Ladies, the brochures for the women’s retreat are now out. You can pick them up at the church office or in the sanctuary. Registration is going to start the week of March 23. You can drop your registration form off at the office, at Women@10 or in between the morning services on April 5, or April 19. Because this retreat fills up fast, avoid disappointment and register early. You must fill out the form and attach payment to secure your registration. A New Anglican Network Parish in Langley

If you have friends or family in the Langley area who would like to help launch an Anglican Newtwork parish there this fall, please let them know of a meeting with Bishop Ron Ferris. Lighthouse Harbour Ministries Spring Dinner

Lighthouse Mission to Seafarers is having a Dinner-Fund Raiser at 6:30 pm on Friday April 24, at J.P. Fell Armoury in North Vancouver (freewill offering). A captivating video about the lives of Christian seafarers and the music of Michael Hart will be featured. Volunteer Opportunity

Kingcrest International Neighbours (www.kingcrest.org), a ministry that runs ESL classes and helps many refugee claimants and newcomers to Canada in East Vancouver, is looking for volunteers in the upcoming 10-week spring term, Apr 14 to Jun 19, 2009. We need volunteer teachers who can teach two hours once or twice a week in the morning or in the evening, host friends to spend time with students and orient them to life in Canada, and helpers to help with Alpha ESOL Bible Study, refreshments, childcare and other administrative work. Parish Family News

Condolences. Dr. Douglas Begg died on April 1st in Jersey, Channel Islands and his funeral will be held there on April 14. Please keep his sisters, Jean and Mary, and his children in your prayers.
