Dear Friends, Each summer we change the shape and schedule of our Sunday gatherings from 4 services [7:30 AM, 9 AM, 11 AM, 6:30 PM] to 3 services [8 AM, 10 AM, 6:30 PM]. We do this for a range of reasons - it is helpful to the children’s ministry, choir, and pastoral staff, and frankly it’s great to be all together on Sunday mornings with as many as possible. We usually go to this “Summer Schedule” on the first Sunday in July but I have decided to move to the Summer Schedule TWO WEEKS EARLY, BEGINNING JUNE 21. That is next Sunday! I recognize this is very little notice to give, and so I would be very grateful if you could get the message to any of your friends who are not here today so that they are not caught out. My primary reason in deciding to do this is so that we can have a special meeting after the 10 AM service next Sunday, June 21. Our court case finished this week, and I have invited our lead legal council Geoff Cowper and Stanley Martin to come at 11:30 AM on the 21st, to give us a report on the progress and final state of the trial. I want all of us to hear from Geoff and Stanley in order to know how remarkably well they have represented us, and to have them available for questions and answers. At the end of our time, we will place it all in the hands of God through a short service. For parents, we will arrange for the children to have activities for an extra 45 minutes from 11:30-12:15 so that you might stay and participate. For those in the 8 AM and 6:30 PM services, it will mean coming back to church at 11:30 AM, following the 10AM service. As a church we have been given one verse from a number of people and groups: “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” [1Cor. 15:58]. Warmly, David Short |
