Operation Christmas Child

Each year opportunity is given for individuals and families to fill a shoebox with gifts for a child living in a war-torn or impoverished country. Boxes can be picked up this morning in the lower hall. A cheque for $ 7.00 should be made out to “Operation Christmas Child” and included in the box.

Parking – please be considerate

Recently one of our neighbours reported that his driveway had been blocked on a Sunday two weeks running and he couldn’t get out. They are considering asking the City to make their block “For Residents Only”. This would make life very difficult for all of us on Sundays and during the week.
Please park legally:

  • Corner clearance: 6 meters or 20 feet from the inside edge of the intersecting sidewalk
  • Lane or driveway clearance: 1.5 meters or 5 feet from an intersecting lane. This is the minimum. A car parked directly across from a lane or driveway must be at least 5.5 meters or 18 feet from the street entrance to the lane or driveway.
  • Fire hydrant: 5 meters or 16½ feet

Dear Friends,

This Sunday brings to a close a very blessed five years of ministry to St. John’s youth. We regard our time with St. John’s youth with deep gratitude to God and wish to thank all who have helped, supported and prayed for us.

The growth here has been nothing short of astonishing:

We began with approximately 20 youth… there are now around 160 (and growing).

We began with no leaders… we leave a leadership team of 16 home grown young people.

There are now 16 small group Bible studies in the youth ministry – some are bulging at the seams.

The College group (Ekklesia) is now around 50.

There were no young people going to the evening service… they now fill up the first 6 rows. This year the first group of older Ekklesians “graduated” to form a new evening service Bible study.

We have our first university graduate (who has grown up at St. John’s) going to Regent College (with more on the way!)

We leave a team of godly, trained interns to run the youth ministry in the interim.

Though we reflect with a deep sense of joy at the obvious numerical growth God has brought, it is the profoundly godly character of the youth that shines out as the most important fruit of this time. The young people of St. John’s have become a group with deep relationships and a determination to follow Christ together. We have seen them sacrifice in many areas in order to do this. We are excited for Canada for what these young people will achieve for God’s kingdom here.

We commend to you the volunteer youth leaders (CTC and Senior Youth leaders) and the interim paid leaders (Ben Short, Susie Ley, Chloe Moore, Robert Edwards, Kerensa Symons and Ben Van der Heide). They have faithfully served with us and are an exceptional group of young men and women whom we love. We urge you give them your full support and to commit yourselves to prayer for them.

Our time here has been a profoundly blessed experience and we count it as having been a truly happy time for us. All thanks goes to our Heavenly Father who brought us here.

With deep love and ongoing prayers for God’s blessing,

Ken and Julie Moser
