Can you imagine the initial fear of Jesus’ followers that early dawn, as they discovered his tomb empty, after having seen their Lord crucified? And then their utter astonishment as he walked beside them, talking on the road, and interpreting to them ‘in all the scriptures the things concerning himself’. As Jesus opened their minds to understand the scriptures, their fear turned to faith and great joy.
