St John's Vancouver Anglican Church is a community of Christians dedicated to the exposition and teaching of the Word of God, to the spreading of the good news of the Gospel at home and abroad, and to the application of God's purpose in our own lives and families.

Identity, Meaning and Destiny:A Look at Life’s BigQuestions

Life is busy! It’s hard to step back from everyday urgencies, from complicated relationships, and from all the cares of our world to look at our lives with fresh eyes.  At every stage of life we need to ask again those haunting questions: Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? Who am I when the mask is off, when my defences are down? Is there meaning or purpose to the things that fill my days? What will happen at the end of my life? Where am I going with all my work and striving?

In the book of Ephesians, the apostle Paul faces these questions with eloquence, passion and profound faith in Jesus. As Susan Norman explores Paul’s message with us, we will be challenged to grow, to pray, and to live more intentionally into the reality of the Kingdom.

Speaker: Susan Norman

Susan grew up in Nova Scotia and moved to the West Coast in the early 1970s to study at Regent College. In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, she led Bible studies and retreats, gave lectures on a variety of topics, organized conferences and eventually taught Academic Writing at Regent College. In 2003, she completed an MA in Adult Education at UBC, writing her thesis on Jesus as an effective educator. During a sojourn in the United States, she became a campus staff worker with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF), working with grad students and faculty. Today, she is back in Vancouver as the national director of the Grad Student & Faculty Ministry for IVCF Canada and a campus staff worker at UBC. She is married to Edward Norman and they are delighted to be back at St. John’s Vancouver where they worked and worshipped for many years.

The women’s retreat this year is going to be June 1-3. It definitely will be something you won’t want to miss.

The retreat will be at Loon Lake Research and Educational Centre. Send us a note if you would like to receive event emails
