Greeting ministry
The Greeting Ministry at St John’s assumes a number of important roles during our regular Sunday morning services and a number of special services scheduled throughout the year.
Our responsibilities include:
- handing out service bulletins
- guiding or assisting parishioners to the sanctuary, Sunday school, meeting rooms or other locations in the Church
- setting-up additional seating when required
- assisting with the flow of communicants
- collecting and reconciling the offering
- counting and recording attendance
- completing the vestry ledger
- ensuring that all those who enter St John’s are welcomed and made to feel at home
It is this latter capacity that is particularly crucial to our mission of hospitality and, as such, is our key emphasis.
If you’re considering joining the Greeting Ministry team the requirements are very simple: a desire to serve within the St John’s family. There are no particular skills required and the commitment of time need not be onerous. We would be pleased to place you on a team assigned to the 07:30, 09:00 or 11:00 service on a full-time basis – serving approximately once every five weeks – or to a pool of spare sidesmen/women who are available on an ad hoc basis.
