Prayer is an essential component of the Christian's life. If you wish to become part of our praying congregation, there are many ways at St. John’s to join in prayer.
Prayer during communion – Every first and third Sunday at both the 9 am and 11 am services during communion, there are prayer teams who are available to pray with us individually, inviting us to bring all the concerns, desires, and petitions of our hearts. And as part of every Evening Service, again there are prayer teams available to pray with members of the congregation.
Keeping Company with God – This prayer service is held every second and fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 pm in the church. Held Taize-style, this is an incredibly uplifting time. The service starts with a short homily, followed by quiet reflective music and songs, and periods of quietness.
The monthly parish prayer service – This is a one-hour prayer service held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Trendell Lounge. We meet together as a parish to pray together for God’s work both at St. John's and in the wider church. The service consists of a short exposition and a prayer response, then a specific ministry area is prayed for in small groups. Each month a different missionary is invited to provide an update to which we also provide a prayer response. Finally, we give thanks to God for answered prayer and pray for items in the forthcoming month.
Evensong – is a prayerful, quiet service held every Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm, and is followed by dinner in the Trendell Lounge.
