Expecting Emmanuel is a special Advent service to bring comfort and hope for those feeling weary or burdened this Christmas season.
For most of us, the Christmas rush has already begun and it’s hard not to get swept up in the commercialism and franticness of the season. And for some of us, December isn’t just busy. It can be a difficult, even painful time when the things that are not right in our lives and in our world press in on us.
For these reasons, we are hosting a special worship service on Monday, December 10 called “Expecting Emmanuel.” During this service, we will sing hymns, share short times of silent prayer, and listen as prayers for “those in need” are read. Rev. James Wagner will share his reflections on a Scripture reading and we will hear music from guest musicians. For anyone seeking personal prayer, there will be prayer from members of the prayer team after the service.
This service is for everyone: for those who have never come to St. John’s, as well as church members. Our hope is that this service offers you a quiet time apart from the busyness of December and a time to meet the One who came to be our comfort and hope.
