Making lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ

A community of 7–12th graders who love Jesus and love one another.

Programs

  • Grade 7-8: most Sundays, grade 7-8 youth begin worship with their families and then are dismissed to their own program as marked in the service sheet (about 20 minutes into the service). Every third Sunday, grades 7-8 participate in the service.

Grade 9-12: most Sundays, grade 9-12 youth participate in the service or volunteer to serve in various ways (children’s church, production, acolytes, etc.). Every second Sunday, grade 9-12 youth gather separately after the kids’ talk for a message and discussion and a teaching series.

  • Youth in grades 7-12 attend the St. John’s Evening Service at 6:00 p.m., worshipping together at a contemporary Anglican service. Following the service, they get together, share snacks, debrief the service, and have a casual time of hanging out.

  • Every Friday night at 6:45-8:45pm (September to June).

We gather nearly every Friday night from September to June. On Big Nights, we share a meal, sing, play big group games, and listen to some teaching. For Discussion Group nights, we gather by grade groups and work through a Bible study together. And on Small Group nights, we gather in homes or for activities across Vancouver!

For Parents

We believe parents are the primary disciplers of their children—we exist to support you! Alongside providing your student with a relational network of adult mentors and like-minded peers, we love helping parents think about their discipleship role through offering helpful resources and being available for pastoral support. Keep in touch with St. John’s through our weekly news email and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!

Join the Youth Ministry Team

The mission of St. John's Youth ministry is to make lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. To make this mission a reality, we need that community to come along and serve the youth as disciplers, food makers, worship team leaders and a million other jobs all with the end in mind - discipleship. Take a look to see if any of the following roles jump off the page for you, or email youth@sjvan.org.
