Creative Ministries

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Genesis 1:1

The first thing that we learn about the character of God in the Bible is that, at the beginning of all time, he created. And we get to create and be creative at church, too!

At St. John’s, we have two formal creative ministries, and they work together closely:

Music

The music ministry leads us in musical worship at all of our services.

Production

SJV Prod takes care of all of the technical aspects of our services and events. Their mission is to serve God Well, Disciple People, and Celebrate Creativity.

Our Staff

SJV Prod is all about using technology to spread the Gospel, encourage engagement, and ensure accessibility in our services. We’re a diverse and intergenerational team, and we like it that way!

  • On Sundays, there are a number of roles you could pick up on our team to facilitate both in-person and online worship.

Producer: This person helps manage the team, orients those leading the service, and manages the projector and our livestream.

Audio Engineer: This person runs audio in-house as well as on our livestream platforms.

Video Director: This person manages all camera shots and lighting.

Graphics Operator: This person manages all the liturgy and lyrics slides as well as any media that will be used in-service.

  • SJV Prod is responsible for any audio-visual need at midweek events, such as worship nights, funerals, and workshops.

We also take care of audio-visual needs at weekend retreats, which can be a large undertaking.

We’re always looking for more help from people with flexible hours to who are interested in audio to run these events.

If you are interested in helping out, please contact Merial Bull, Director of Communications & Production.

  • We’re big on team building at SJV Prod.

Every year, we host a big vision & training event in the Spring, as well as a team appreciation barbecue in the Summer.

Whenever there is time and capacity, we connect our members to workshops and conferences that can stoke ther creative fire or hhone their skill in music production.

If you have gifts and talents that you can impart to us in the form of training (e.g. running a workshop), please reach out to Merial Bull, Director of Communications & Production.
